Decent work and child labor
Work is important to people as it provides them with financial security and access to basic needs. But unemployment is an ongoing problem all over the world. In 2017, the global unemployment rate was 5.6 percent, a decrease from 6.4 percent in 2000. Productive employment and decent work are necessary to reduce poverty. Decent work is, for example, an environment where income is fair, safe, and comfortable to work in, and there is no distinction or discrimination.
However, poor countries turn to child labor to have enough money to buy basic needs. Child labor affects nearly one out of every ten children in the world, with some being forced into dangerous jobs as a result of human trafficking.

Gender gap at work
Gender inequality affects income. In 40 of the 45 countries, men earn 12.5 percent more than women. If nothing is done to close the pay gap, it will take another 68 years.
Women are still underrepresented despite the fact that women’s educational attainments are equal to or greater than men’s.
Despite their increased role in society, women continue to do 2.6 times as much unpaid domestic and caregiving work as men. One of the main obstacles to women finding better careers is unpaid caregiving work.
