Space Elevator

Many people want to travel to space, but not everyone can be an astronaut. Even those selected from space flight programs must complete the hard training. But now, there is a technology that may make traveling to space simple: the space elevator. Anyone will be able to ride the elevator into space, just like traveling abroad.
The elevator must be attached to a cable that is about 100,000 kilometers long and 100 times as strong as steel. The elevator will be able to climb up and down. It runs at a speed of 200 to 300 kilometers per hour. The elevator will take about one week to reach the stationary satellite, which is about 36,000 kilometers above the Earth.
The space elevator may soon become a reality thanks to the discovery of carbon nanotubes. In the future, elderly people and children may even reach outer space.
