PART E_2

When you go to the movies, do you stay in your seat until the end of the credit roll? Some people watch the whole thing; others don’t at all; and some do, depending on the movie. Personally, I like to watch movies until the very end, unless they are really boring. It’s because after the credit roll, some movies show short sequels, often with images that have a huge impact. Also, the credit roll gives me a chance to appreciate the great number of people involved in making the film, and to bask in the afterglow of the film while listening to the music. Once, I went to see a movie in a certain country. As soon as the movie finished, all people except me left their seats and I was left alone. No one was watching the credit roll, so they turned off the music and pulled the curtains down. Though everyone has a choice in what they like to watch, I couldn’t help thinking, “There is no one in this country who appreciates the afterglow of a movie?”

Dear Sam,

Congratulations on passing your entrance exam! I knew you would ace it. You’ve been a straight A student all these years. Oh, I can’t believe you’re going to be in college next year! To me, you’ll always be my little Sammy. I know you want me to treat you as a grownup, but it’s just the way older siblings are. I just wanted you to know that I’m so happy for you, Sam.
But remember, this is just the beginning of your next academic career. You might feel overwhelmed at first, but don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll have a great experience in college. I know there’ll be lots of temptations, but don’t forget to keep up with your studies, okay? I barely graduated myself because I let myself drown in distractions.
I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Lots of love from your proud sis,
Ellie
