Curling
Curling is a sport played on ice. It began in Scotland in the 1500s and became an official sport in the Winter Olympics in 1998. Players slide large, round, flat stones across the ice. They use a broom to sweep the path of the stone on ice. Each team has four players and each player has two stones to slide. This sport is also known as “chess on ice” because players must have good mental skills to defeat their opponents just like in chess. The two sports have similar rules and players must have various strategies to win.
