Sacco-Vanzetti Case
On April 25, 1920, a crime occurred in the town of South Braintree, Massachusetts where a paymaster and his guard was shot dead. The payroll they were carrying amounting to $15,776.51 was stolen. Two Italian immigrants named Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were arrested for the crime. Anti-government booklets were found in their car when they were arrested. Also, they could not prove where they were on the day the crime was committed. There were witnesses that proved they were not guilty but the jury was not convinced because the witnesses were also immigrants. Sacco and Vanzetti were found guilty on July 14, 1921. The two immigrants were sent to the electric chair on August 23, 1927.
