I was watching my favorite TV show spending my last days of summer as a high school student when I received a white envelope from my dream school. My heart was pounding and could not even open the letter as I did not have enough courage to know the result of whether I got accepted to my dream course or not. My mother held my hand and assured me that whatever the result would be, everything is going to be okay. And so, finally, I opened the letter and found out that I did not make it.

I admit that it was difficult for me to deal with because growing up, I have always imagined myself wearing a white uniform taking care of people who are sick. I have always wanted to be a nurse but I felt that my dream was taken away from me.

During those moments, I allowed myself to feel sad. But at the same time, I told myself that it is not the end of the world. Fortunately, I have a great support system, my family and friends. I spent more time with them. We watched movies together and ate at our favorite restaurants. I also read books on how to overcome rejections. I learned that rejections are normal and that we can turn those into motivations.

I may not become a nurse as I have always dreamt to be. But my journey opened my eyes to see that it was not the best for me. I realized that my passion is teaching and that my students have incredible ways to make my heart happy. I would definitely not have it the other way.
