The King of Comedy

Charlie Chaplin was a famous actor also called “the King of Comedy.” He has appeared in many comedies about humanity, peace, and equality. But before he became popular, his life was quite tragic.

When Chaplin was five years old, he was sent to a house for poor children. He moved from job to job until the age of 17, when he joined a theater company in London. Feeling unsatisfied, he started to change his sadness into laughter. Then, his performances were a great success in London and other cities.

Chaplin played a brave and kindhearted homeless character in one of his plays. He expressed his difficulties at a young age. The stories in these movies seem funny and tragic at the same time, and they also make the audience feel warm inside. He said, “Yes, life is wonderful, if you’re not afraid of it. All it takes is courage, imagination… and a little dough.”
