PART B_2

History of chess and shogi
Chess is one of the most popular board games in the world. It was invented in the North of India around the 6th century. It traveled to Persia and then spread to the rest of the Asian countries. However, some people believe that chess was invented in China. They believed that a Chinese soldier named Hán Xin invented chess at around 200 B.C. to represent a battle. The game was forgotten after a few years but became popular again during the 7th century A.D. with a new set of rules.
Meanwhile, there is a traditional board game in Japan that is very similar to western chess which is called Shogi. It is believed that it came from India and was brought to Japan by Chinese people. Although the two games are very similar, they have a lot of differences when it comes to the rules.
The goal of these two games is to trap the opposite king. In western chess, the pieces are categorized by black and white to know which pieces are the enemies. Also, their chessboard has 64 squares. While on the other hand, a shogi chessboard has 81 squares. Their pieces are flat which are pointing to the enemy’s end.
