今日は「使役」の表現を学びましょう。
「使役」とは、「誰かに何かさせる」ということです。自分が何かをするのではなく、誰かに何かをさせる。
例えば、He cleans the house.は「彼は部屋を掃除する」です。では、「彼に部屋を掃除させる」はどうでしょうか。”he clean(s) the house”の状況を”作る”と考えて、”make him clean the house”と表現します（このときcleanはsをとって原形を使います）。あとは、文脈に応じて、主語を立てたり時制を調整したりして、表現すればいいのです。

Let’s learn about causative verbs — make, have, let and get — and understand the differences in their nuances.

例文：

“My parents make me take out the trash every Monday.”

「親は毎週月曜日に私にごみ出しをさせる。」
（両親が”I take out the trash every Monday”という状況をmakeする）

makeと同じような「使役」の用法が、haveやletにもあります。「させる」のは共通ですが、ニュアンスは以下のように少し異なります。

make A do （強いて）Aに～させる
have A do（確実に）Aに～させる
let A do（許可して）Aに～させる

例文：

“Let me know when you are ready.”

「準備ができたら教えてください」
（”I know”と言う状況をletして（許して））

「させる」という意味で、getを使うこともありますが、その場合は、get A to doの形で使います（原形ではなくto do）。
To doの＜行為と向き合う＞というニュアンスから「（説得して、なんとかして）～させる」という意味あいになります。

例文：

I’m going to get my mother to buy me a smartphone.

「なんとかしてお母さんにスマホを買ってもらうつもりだ」
