現在分詞(doing)と過去分詞(done)を使って、「~している人」、「~されたもの」などを表現できるようになりましょう。
分詞という文法を使うと、動詞の意味を持った名詞を修飾する働きを持つ形容詞が作れます。

以下の例のように、分詞の後ろに修飾語句がつくときには、名詞の前から修飾します(前置修飾)。
“There was a crying baby on the train.”
「電車に泣いている赤ちゃんがいた。」
「電車に泣いている赤ちゃんがいた。」
cryingが後ろの名詞babyにかかっている(現在分詞の前置修飾)
“Sarah is thinking about buying a used car.”
「サラは中古車を買うことを考えている。」
「サラは中古車を買うことを考えている。」
usedが後ろの名詞carにかかっている(過去分詞の前置修飾)
以下の例のように、分詞の前に修飾語句がつくときには、名詞の後ろから修飾します(後置修飾)。
“Look at the girl dancing on the stage. She’s my sister.”
「舞台で踊っている女の子を見て。僕の妹だよ。」
「舞台で踊っている女の子を見て。僕の妹だよ。」
dancing on the stageが前の名詞girlにかかっている(現在分詞の後置修飾)
“Do you know any songs sung by Korean artists?”
「韓国のアーティストによって歌われている歌を知っていますか?」
「韓国のアーティストによって歌われている歌を知っていますか?」
sung by Korean artistsが前の名詞songsにかかっている。(過去分詞の後置修飾)
