Part 0　今日の学習内容

「彼は私にアメリカで生まれたと言った」は、英語でどう表現するでしょうか。
He told me that he was born in America.となります。
told meに続くthat…の部分は「…ということ」という意味で、tellしたことの内容になります。

He told me [that he was born in America].

このthatは接続詞で、後ろに続く文 He was born in America を長い名詞のカタマリ（＝名詞節）にするはたらきがあります。
このような”動詞＋人＋that節”の構文をもつ動詞の代表選手として、tellとshowがあげられます。

tell＋人＋that…（人に…と（いうことを）言う）
show＋人＋that…（人に…ということを示す）

Let’s learn how to use “tell” and “show” with that-clauses to express what someone said or showed.

例文：

“He told me that he was born in America.”

「彼は私にアメリカ出身だと言った。」

“He showed me that there were many books in the library.”

「彼は私に図書館にたくさん本がある事を示した。」
