Welfare

Welfare is a government program that supports individuals and families in need. Some of the most common welfare services provided are financial, food, and healthcare assistance. People often think that welfare is only about helping people who are socially disadvantaged. In fact, it is not only the provision of one’s basic necessities but also about providing a support system. This involves giving emotional support to achieve a more fulfilling life.
In Japan, welfare is focused on the elderly people because of the aging population. Some become depressed after their retirement. They often feel alone and seem to lose their sense of purpose. Having a healthy relationship with family and friends helps them relieve stress and cope with difficulties in life. This can be attained through building relationships and maintaining communication.
