One example is Christmas day preparation in the Philippines which starts in September. Christmas day is on December 25, but shopping malls start their Christmas bargains three months in advance. It’s one of the biggest events in the Philippines because most people in the Philippines are Catholics. Christmas is a holiday in the Philippines and people spend time with their families. On the other hand, Christmas is just like an ordinary day in Japan. It’s not a holiday, so people go to work or school as usual. They usually spend time with their friends on Christmas day.
