MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) announced that new university entrance examinations will roll out in 2020. The current junior high school students will be the first to take the exams.
The new entrance examinations are set to deliver big changes, especially in the English subject. These changes include better evaluation of the four major language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It will require test-takers to showcase their mastery of the language through speaking and writing, unlike the outdated English examinations that are a multiple-choice paper-and-pencil test that Japan use today.
It was only until recently that Japanese people are paying more attention to learning English to live up to the challenges of globalization. However, English has been primarily taught as a subject in school and not as a communication tool in Japan. Indeed, changing educational policies will be a tough road ahead.
Your tutor will ask you questions. Please answer them in detail.
