Please read aloud the dialogue with your tutor.

READ

Female:
I can’t find my ID. I think I lost it while buying some snacks at the cafeteria before going to class this morning.
Male:
Do you remember the last time you saw it?
Female:
I remember putting it inside my backpack together with my wallet this morning at the cafeteria.
Male:
I see. Why don’t you go back to the cafeteria? Someone might have seen your ID. You may ask the people working there.
Female:
I can’t go back there just yet, I don’t want to miss my next class. We will have a quiz today.
Male:
Why don’t you just go to the registrar’s office and request for a new ID? They allow students to request for a new ID.
Female:
I don’t think it will work because requesting for a new ID takes time.
Male:
Is the process too long?
Female:
Yes. I need to write a letter of request first and ask my professor to sign it, so the registrar can give me the form I need to fill out. I also have to wait for 3 days for the registrar’s approval. It will take at least a week to get a new one.

SAMPLE ANSWERS

A female student and a male student are talking about a problem the female student has.
The problem is that she lost her ID.
The male student offered two suggestions to solve her problem.
His first suggestion is to go back to the cafeteria because someone might have seen her ID there.
His second suggestion is to go to the registrar’s office and request for a new ID.
I choose the second suggestion because it gives a permanent solution to the problem. Going back to the cafeteria to look for her ID does not guarantee that she will find it there. She will also need to skip classes in order to do this. Requesting for a new ID may take time but there is an assurance that she will get a new ID in the end.
