The increasing amount of trash in the ocean is a major global issue these days. Plastic waste in the waves is difficult to collect. However, two Australian surfers never gave up hope.

The two men created a trash bin for the ocean and started the Seabin Project. The project’s aim was to distribute a lot of seabins all over the world. The seabins were designed to automatically collect trash from the ocean’s surface by using a pump.

Seabins are extremely easy to use. When the pump is turned on, water flows into the seabin, carrying trash with it. Then the water passes through a catch bag inside the bin. Only the water is pumped back into the sea. Plastic as small as two millimeters can be collected by seabins.

The project team is also trying to educate people. The Seabin Project’s goal is to clean up the ocean so that these seabins are no longer required.
