(Please review the mispronounced words and expressions from part A_2.)

PART A_4

PART B_1

We will read aloud the passage below. Please repeat after me. I will check your pronunciation.
(Please send the mispronounced words and expressions to your student.)

PART B_2

In the middle of a conversation, Japanese people often ask each other, “What blood type are you?” Why do Japanese people like to categorize people on almost any occasion? For example, they call those who think logically “left-brained,” and those who think emotionally “right-brained.” Similarly, many people keep on labeling others as the “science” type or the “art” type, even years after college graduation. Perhaps categorizing people by blood type is the most extreme example. Maybe it’s true that people can be categorized into types based on what they have in common. However, if you ask “What is your blood type?” to foreigners you meet for the first time, they will be surprised. Perhaps in a country like America, where everyone has a different background, categorizing people is useless.

PART B_3

Now, let’s review some words from part B_2.
(Please review the mispronounced words and expressions from part B_2.)

PART B_4

PART C_1

Please summarize the article above in your own words. You may refer to the Summary chart part on your own textbook if needed.
Please start your summary with “The article describes that …”.

PART C_2

PART C_3

Now, let’s review your answer. After that, please read aloud your corrected answer.
(Please review your student’s answers by sending the correct answers in complete sentences. After that, ask your student to read aloud his or her corrected answers.)

PART C_4

PART D_1

Now, please defend your opinion. I will ask you the following question. Then, please answer what you prepared.
(Students prepare for the following question in advance.)

PART D_2

Do you agree or disagree that one’s personality is influenced by his/her blood type and why?
I agree/disagree that
I have two reasons for this.
Firstly,
Secondly,
For these reasons, I believe that

PART D_3

Now, let’s review your answer.
(Please send the corrected answer to your student.)

PART D_4

PART D_5

Now, let’s try to express opposite idea. First, we’ll read the sample answer. Please repeat after me.

PART D_6

Do you agree or disagree that one’s personality is influenced by his/her blood type and why?
I agree that our personality is influenced by our blood type.
I have two reasons for this.
Firstly, the fortune telling by blood type is very common in Japan. When we know the tendency of each blood type, we tend to act like that. As a result, people tend to act similarly based on the blood type.
Secondly, as part of human evolution, blood type gives us personality. I think current blood types have survived several hundred million years. Humans who were able to avoid troubles had same the personality. So, I think each blood type has similar personalities, too.
For these reasons, I believe that our personality is influenced by our blood type.

PART D_7

Do you agree or disagree that one’s personality is influenced by his/her blood type and why?
I disagree that our personality is influenced by our blood type.
I have two reasons for this.
Firstly, the fortune telling by blood type is shared in Japan. In my family, we all have same blood type but we have different personalities. Of course, some part of our personalities are similar but I think it’s more affected by the environment.
Secondly, we sometimes introduce our personality depending on nationality. If it’s true that our personality is influenced by our blood type, we don’t have an idea that nationality is influenced our personality. For example, Japanese are shy while Americans are open.
For these reasons, I believe that our personality is not influenced by our blood type.
PART D_8

Now, let’s express your idea. Your answer should start with “I agree or disagree ~” that you didn’t choose first.
(If students have hard time, please read aloud the sample answer instead of making answer.)

PART D_9

Do you agree or disagree that one’s personality is influenced by his/her blood type and why?
I agree/disagree that
I have two reasons for this.
Firstly,
Secondly,
For these reasons, I believe that
PART D_10

Now, let’s review your answer.
