Each country has one language which its people speak. However, since people can still learn other languages, it is considered that all countries are multilingual. People think that England is monolingual, but even Britain is multilingual nowadays. Britain might have started speaking other languages before as a result of trade. Today, multilingualism in Britain has rocketed because of immigrants. Most students do not use English as their main language. Because of this, it is needed to teach English as a second language in schools.

レッスンルームは、WebRTC(Web Real-Time Communication)という、

「A network error has occurred. This page will be refreshed.」

 及びホワイトリスト(許可リスト)へ(eikaiwa.weblio.jp)の追加

PART A_1

Let’s introduce ourselves to each other.

PART A_2

PART A_3

PART A_4

PART B_1

Please read aloud the following announcement in 45 seconds.

PART B_2

Renewal of dormitory access cards
This is to inform all student tenants that they are required to renew their access cards for security purposes. The admin office will issue new access cards during office hours until June 30. Please prepare a $50 deposit in claiming your new access card.
The admin office is open during weekdays from 9:00 – 15:00.
Thank you for your cooperation.

PART C_1

Now, please read aloud the following dialogue with your tutor. I will read the female part, and you will read the male part.

PART C_2

Female: Hello, have you seen the announcement regarding the access card renewal?
Male: Yes, I have. And I don’t think it’s a good idea.
Female: Why do you think so?
Male: First of all, they informed us too late. It’s already June 25 and we have classes during weekdays. We need to arrange our schedule before going to the admin office to claim our new access cards since they are only open from 9:00 – 15:00 on weekdays.
Female: True. I need to check my class schedule before going to the admin office.
Male: Right? They should open their office during weekends, so students can pick up their new access cards in their free time.
Female: I agree. We don’t have classes during weekends.
Male: Also, the required deposit is expensive for us. How many of us can prepare $50 in 5 days? They should have consulted us before requiring any payment.
Female: You are right. But we can still find ways to prepare $50 by June 30.
Male: Yeah, I may ask for money from my sister. Nonetheless, I will ask the admin office to hear from us before making a new regulation next time.
PART C_3

I will ask the following questions. Please answer based on the announcement and the dialogue.
You have 30 seconds for preparation and 60 seconds for answering. Please start your preparation silently.

PART C_4

The male student expresses his opinion about the admin’s announcement.
State his opinion and explain his reasons.
Answer:
PART C_5

Now, let’s review your answer. After that, please read aloud your corrected answer.
(Please review your student’s answers by sending the correct answers in complete sentences. After that, ask your student to read aloud his or her corrected answers.)

PART C_6

PART C_7

Now, we’ll read the sample answer. Please repeat after me.

PART C_8

A female student and a male student are talking about an announcement made by the admin office. According to the announcement, all student tenants are required to renew their dormitory access cards by June 30.
The male student disagrees with the admin’s announcement and gives two reasons why he is against it.
First, he thinks that it’s too late to inform the students 5 days before the due date. He suggests that the admin office should issue new access cards on weekends instead because students have classes on weekdays.
Second, he adds that the $50 deposit is expensive. He complains that the admin should hear from students before they require any payments from them.
For these reasons, he doesn’t support the announcement of the admin office.

PART D_1

Please read aloud the following announcement in 45 seconds.

PART D_2

Cafeteria Renovation
To expand space and promote convenience, the school cafeteria will be under renovation from September 3 – September 30. On these dates, students will not be able to enter the cafeteria.
In line with this, the management will provide two food trucks on weekdays from 11:30-13:30.
We also advise students to bring their own lunch as much as possible because the food trucks will have limited food supply.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the management office.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience.

PART E_1

Now, please read aloud the following dialogue with your tutor. I will read the female part, and you will read the male part.

PART E_2

Female: Hi, have you seen the announcement about the cafeteria renovation?
Male: Yes, I’ve seen it this morning. And I don’t like it.
Female: Why don’t you like it?
Male: First, it says that they will renovate the cafeteria to promote convenience, right?
Female: Yes, that’s right.
Male: Closing the cafeteria for a month will be more inconvenient than our current situation because we only have one cafeteria in this college. I also think it has enough space already, so a renovation is unnecessary.
Female: That’s true. We haven’t had a hard time finding a space in the cafeteria.
Male: Also, it’s unrealistic. I don’t think two food trucks could cater enough food to all 600 students in this college. They said the food supply is limited, it means students who have classes before lunch time won’t be able to buy food.
Female: Yeah, that would be a problem because I have classes until noon.
Male: It means almost everyone needs to bring lunch every day. I will suggest to have more food trucks to cater to all students. I hope they consider the idea.
PART E_3

I will ask the following questions. Please answer based on the announcement and the dialogue.
You have 30 seconds for preparation and 60 seconds for answering. Please start your preparation silently.

PART E_4

The male student expresses his opinion on the management’s decision.
State his opinion and explain his reasons.
Answer:
PART E_5

Now, let’s review your answer. After that, please read aloud your corrected answer.
(Please review your student’s answers by sending the correct answers in complete sentences. After that, ask your student to read aloud his or her corrected answers.)

PART E_6

PART E_7

Now, we’ll read the sample answer. Please repeat after me.

PART E_8

A female student and a male student are talking about an announcement about the cafeteria. According to the announcement, all students will not be able to use the cafeteria from September 3 to September 30 due to renovation.
The male student disagrees with the management’s decision and gives two reasons why he is against it.
First, he feels that it will be more inconvenient for students than the current situation because the cafeteria has enough space already.
Second, he adds that two food trucks will not be able to provide enough food to all 600 students in this college because their food supply is limited

One research said that the number of wild animals has decreased by about 60% in the last 50 years. According to them, animals that live near the water like rivers and lakes show a great decrement in population. They thought that it is related to how people use water. For example, building dams makes changes in the natural cycle. It also makes changes in the lives of the animals that live near the water. In the end, some animals cannot accept these changes and disappear from Earth.
On the other hand, the number of other animals has been decreased by hunting. African elephants are one of the victims of forbidden hunting because ivory is sold at a high price. In the same manner, sharks are also hunted for their fins.
They also said that it is true that the number of wild animals is decreasing but not all animals. It is a hint. We have to find a way to live well with them.
