PART B_2

If you put charcoal in the grill, squirt lighter fluid on the coal, and throw a lighted match, the fluid ignites but the charcoal does not burn. Muscles are similar to grill: they burn fats and sugar. Like lighter fluid, sugar burns instantly, whereas fat takes a long time similar to charcoal. According to research, we get more calories and energy from fat molecules compared to sugar molecules. If you play any active sports, you run out of sugar easily but never use up all of your fats.

Starving or anorexic people do not burn their fat even if they weigh only 75 pounds. When they die, their corpses look like skeletons because they lose a lot of muscles. However, autopsy reports have shown that these people still have ten to fifteen pounds of fat. This means they do not starve to death and never lose all of their body fat.

I became fascinated in watching anime since I was four years old. It is because my family, including my cousins, is interested in Japanese culture. My first time seeing an anime was when I saw my brother watching one, and we both got interested in it.
At first, I had been watching anime with my brothers but nowadays, I watch them myself. However, when there is a chance, I watch them with my friends and other family members. It is one way for us to bond during our rest days.

One Ocean, One People
Uchino Kanako is the first Japanese crew of Hokule’a and shared the traditional Polynesian navigation process in an interview. Hokule’a is a replica of a traditional Polynesian canoe that sails across the Pacific Ocean. These canoes have some ropes that are kilometers long used to tie the hulls. Currently, Kanako and her team use GPS for navigation, but traditional Polynesian navigators were known as “wayfinders” who used nature to show them the way. The wayfinders watch for natural signs from the moon, sun, stars, clouds, winds, and birds.

To start, wayfinders carefully observed the position of the rising sun in the early morning. They read the patterns of the waves they refer to as “faces of the ocean” before the sun got higher in the sky. During the days, the wayfinders keep their canoes at the same angle as the waves so that they maintain going to the right direction.
