Seya started to have an interest in helping people when she saw a photo of a dying mother and her child in a refugee camp in Rwanda. Because of that, she started to read books about conflicts in the world.
In 1997, she visited Rwanda to help the survivors of the genocide. However, the people did not trust her. She realized that she lacked knowledge and experience to help them.
Seya went to the U.K. and spent most of her time in the library. She read information about conflict resolutions. She was given an opportunity by a Japanese NGO to work in Rwanda. Her mission was to provide job training for women who had lost their husbands in conflicts.
After accomplishing her mission, she became a U.N. volunteer. Her task focused on providing training to the ex-soldiers. In 2009, she started a project in Sudan that supports youth, including child soldiers.
Her experiences taught her that knowledge and skills are not enough to help people, one must listen and understand their situations.

Each country has one language which most of its people speak. However, since people can still learn other languages, it is considered that all countries are multilingual. People think that England is monolingual, but even Britain is multilingual nowadays. Britain might have started speaking other languages before as a result of trade. Today, multilingualism in Britain has rocketed because of immigrants. Most students do not use English as their main language. Because of this, it is needed to teach English as a second language in schools.
Many immigrants keep their language because it is a part of their identity. The welcoming country also promotes multilingualism by providing translations in their public services. In some countries, people protest just to preserve their language. So, to make people aware of multilingualism, the International Mother Language Day is celebrated on February 21.
Nowadays, multilingualism is still a big issue. However, it is important to encourage people to support multilingualism. After all, people can now preserve their heritage by speaking their mother tongue without being repressed.

Nowadays, the number of tourists who go to Japan’s top cities has increased despite taking a hit in 2011. To attract more tourists to the countryside, the Japanese government is planning to improve public transportation and local attractions. Due to the increasing number of tourists in the cities, room bookings at hotels are having difficulty keeping up. This problem is hard to solve because more hotels are being built to prepare for the 2020 Olympics. To solve it, the government promotes using cruise ships as floating hotels and minpaku, a private lodging service. Tokyo officials hope that floating hotels and minpaku will be more common in Japan to accommodate tourists and also help people during disasters.

Sarah:
Hi, Caroline. Are you ready for our P.E. class tomorrow?
Caroline:
Yes, I am. And I’m very excited. How about you?
Sarah:
I am nervous about our P.E. class tomorrow. Our teacher told us that we will be playing volleyball, but I don’t know its rules and how to play it.
Caroline:
Don’t worry, for sure she will teach us before the game. I can also teach you later so you’ll be prepared for tomorrow.
Sarah:
Really? That would be great. Thank you so much, Caroline.
Caroline:
You’re welcome, Sarah. See you later after school.
After school
Sarah:
I read some volleyball rules online during my free time.
Caroline:
Really? That’s nice. It is important to know the basics like there should only be six players on the court, three in front and three in the back row. Each team is only allowed to hit the ball for a maximum of three hits. So, on their third hit, they must be able to pass it to the other side or else they will lose a point.
Sarah:
Are players allowed to hit the ball using any part of their body?
Caroline:
Yes, that is allowed as long as the ball did not reach the floor or hit the antenna. There are two antennas in volleyball, they can be found on the left and right sides of the net. Also, don’t forget that you can’t hit the ball twice in a row.
Sarah:
I see. Those tips are very helpful. Thank you so much for teaching me. I will make sure to remember all of them.
Caroline:
No problem. Come on, let’s practice.

PART D_3
