Pictograms are icons with bright, simple designs used to represent data. It is a form of writing which uses pictorial drawings. Pictograms are often seen in public places.

An elevator sign means that there is an elevator nearby. People can use the elevator to go to the different floors of a building. A parking sign is an indication that people can temporarily leave their vehicles in a specific place. Most parking lots require payment. A no smoking sign in a place is a notice that no one is allowed to smoke. People who smoke in places with this sign will be punished.

Pictograms are a part of people’s daily lives. They indicate places, directions and actions. Instead of reading words, people can recognize pictograms by simply looking at them.

Hunger

According to a study, 1 out of 9 people suffer from hunger in the world today. Basically, hunger is categorized into two types. One is famine which is caused by sudden phenomena like drought, flood and war. Food supply drastically decreases which causes people to suffer from severe malnutrition. In worst case, some of them die. The other one is chronic hunger. It is caused by low agriculture productivity. Another possible cause is the lack of resources to obtain a sustainable food supply. This is not easy to solve because several factors such as politics, education and environment contribute to this problem. Not only food but also awareness on how to get sustainable food supply should be provided.
