Food Banks

The number of children experiencing hunger has been increasing over the past years. Because of this, food banks were established to feed them. Food banks collect foods that are still safe to eat. Convenience stores donate to food banks. They often donate food products that are near their expiration dates.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), food can still be donated even if it is past the expiration date. Still, food banks have to check the quality of the donated foods before handing them out. Food banks have a list of what they can and cannot accept. Canned foods and agricultural goods are some of the foods that are accepted by food banks.
