Some studies show that most consumers consider the popularity of a product more than its quality. For instance, a consumer would most likely choose a particular car brand because his/her family and friends trust that certain brand.

In fact, an increase in the number of users benefits the consumers. In economics, this is called the network effect. For example, there were only a few users of the internet before. A few years later, more and more people gained access to the internet. As a result, more information, websites, and services were produced. Consumers receive better services to choose from. Meaning, the more users a product has the more valuable it becomes.
