The economy of Japan is the third largest economy in the world. They have advanced technology and efficient transport system that are known worldwide. Despite this outstanding economic condition, the country is still facing poverty issues. In 2009, there were a total of 16,000 homeless people in Japan. Because of this, the government, together with some non-governmental organizations, has been establishing projects that aim to help the people in need. They provide food with the help of food banks, housing projects, and medical care that does not only focus on their physical health but also their mental health. They believe that in order to provide well-living conditions for homeless people, they need to give importance in dealing with their mental health.
