Hello, Judith. I called you here today to discuss your evaluation. How do you feel about your performance this quarter?
Judith
Well, I think that I’m doing well in communicating with my clients and meeting their needs.
Jesse
That’s great to hear. As an account executive, you’re expected to establish a solid relationship with your clients. However, I do notice that you get distracted easily these days. Is something the matter?
Judith
I apologize, sir. Lately, I have been feeling exhausted.
Jesse
I understand. But you have to remember that by not being focused, you might end up compromising the quality of your work. I understand that large tasks can be overwhelming. I think it would be best for you to break your tasks into chunks.
Judith
Yes, I should definitely do that.
Jesse
If you split a project up into smaller tasks that require less time, you’ll feel like the end goal is more achievable. After all, smaller tasks are easier to tackle.
Judith
Thank you for the advice, sir. I appreciate it.

The Rise of Hotel Outsourcing

Five-star hotels around the world have been outsourcing non-core work for cost-efficiency purposes. Zora hotels, situated in the heart of Oklahoma, has recently laid off nearly 150 maintenance staff. Faulty electronics and lack of cleanliness contributed to their low customer satisfaction rating. According to Zora Hotels CEO Martha Kerr, outsourcing maintenance staff allows them to increase cost-efficiencies and gives them access to industry-first innovations. “It’s the best decision we have ever made. We have increased our resources and optimized our processes.”

As the hospitality industry enters the summer season, hotels are prioritizing the overall maintenance of their facilities. With the influx of guests, outsourcing makes hotel operations run smoothly as possible. Outsourcing non-core tasks such as housekeeping, laundry, and equipment maintenance allows the hotel management to focus on the most important aspects of its business and invest in new opportunities.

Hello, Trisha!

I understand how intimidating investing can be, but I can offer some advice. For starters, I strongly advise you to invest in a well-established business. The stock prices of these companies are relatively stable. You can also consider investing in a startup business. You may make a lot of money if the company succeeds.

Examine the company’s income statement from previous years to see if it has remained consistent or if it has fluctuated. Before investing in a company, compare its performance to that of others.

Also, bear in mind that all investments come with some level of risk. It’s natural to lose some of your money. You are welcome to contact me if you have any additional concerns.

Sincerely,

Ken

24/7 Faces Bankruptcy

Some employees have lost their jobs as the major supermarket chain 24/7 declared bankruptcy. The company has been battling difficult financial conditions for the past two years. The first 24-hour supermarket opened its doors in early 2000. Following the success of the original branch, several 24-hour stores were opened and became profitable across the country. In its prime, the chain had over 500 locations.

On the other hand, the 2019 recession resulted in its financial collapse. Customers of the grocery giant decreased as the country’s economic activity slowed. 24/7 had to close 30 percent of its locations and restructure its organization across the country.

By 2016, the firm had already accumulated a $69 million debt, causing it to liquidate further outlets and lay off hundreds of workers. To get back on its feet, the corporation intends to dispose of some of its assets. Chris Tui, the CEO of 24/7, believes that selling some of the company’s facilities and machinery will help to pay off a big portion of its debt.
