E-mail: Boon or Bane in Business?

Since the invention of e-mail in the 1970s, business communication has never been the same. There is no company in the world that does not rely on its service. It is entirely free and allows you to send clients as many messages, photos, and documents as possible. Its geographical reach is particularly helpful for those who work in teams across different time zones or those who have shift work. E-mails are also environmentally friendly as they do not require the paper to function. Messages can be prepared in advance and saved until you are ready to send them. However, the tool is not without its disadvantages. The world of e-mail is constantly beset by spam and viruses that are disruptive to daily tasks. An e-mail can also be subject to misinterpretation between the sender and the recipient as it leaves out body language, tone, and other cues. All in all, e-mail is a powerful tool that greatly benefits businesses.

So, if we buy 100 units, the total cost will be $ 60, 000.00? Is it possible to price it down?

Tom
Thank you for having me.
Ana (sales representative)
Now, in your book, you mentioned that effective communication is key to increasing
productivity in the office. What are the repercussions of poor communication?
Tom
Well, poor communication limits a company’s ability to optimize performance. It reduces efficiency and suppresses innovation in the workplace. It’s something that most organizations underestimate.
Ana (sales representative)
Technology has revolutionized the way companies improve efficiency. For you, what is the most important contribution of technology to the workplace?
Tom
Well, of course, we had the fax first, but I would say e-mail is the most important contribution. It’s easy, quick, and paperless. In fact, two chapters of my book discuss its significance and utilization.
Ana (sales representative)
And does technology have any disadvantages at all?
Tom
Of course, in my book, I argue that technology can also serve as a barrier to face-to-face communication.
Ana (sales representative)
What could be the solution to this?

It would be great for employees to schedule meetings in person. I also highly encourage a monthly get-together for employees.

Subject: Food booth sponsorship

Dear Mr. Brent,

Thank you for choosing us as one of your sponsors for your music festival. I have gone over your proposal this afternoon and there is a concern I want to address. Based on what I have read, you will only provide us a commission of 8%. I believe that won’t work as we have already offered you half the price of our food booths. We can only clinch the deal if you raise the commission to 15% and promote us on your social media platforms.

Please confirm so we can revise the contract and have it signed accordingly.

We look forward to working with you on this tie-up.

Respectfully,
Sheena Walter

Hello there, Lory. I’ve reviewed the proposal to make us your retailer. I think your new batch of compact digital cameras is really promising.

Well, I’m glad about that. So, shall we get down to business?
Jess
Yes, of course. I told my business partners about the 21% profit share for every sale made.
Lory
Have you thought about it further? I believe your company really has the best client base for the cameras.
Jess
You see, we believe in a digital camera’s ability to produce high-quality images, but the market for it is slightly declining. We find that quite alarming.
Lory
I understand, but your company has the biggest sales for digital cameras last year and I’ve seen the increase this May.
Jess
Okay, I see your point. Are you amenable to raise the share?

TO: Lana Kent – Circles Concept Store
SUBJECT: Proposal – Retail

Dear Ms. Kent,

I’m Patricia Mills from VGN Leather Co. I am delighted to let you know that we just launched our latest Veronica tote bag. It is a versatile, structured leather tote bag with multiple compartments ideal for working women. We at VGN have long admired Circles as a concept store that enhances the shopper experience. We have witnessed how your recent online campaign has resulted in an incredible footfall. Circles is quickly becoming the go-to store in the metro for women’s accessories.

Our Veronica tote bag is selling fast, and as big fans of Circles, we want to propose a long-term partnership with your store. As our business partner, we offer you a 5% sales commission if you agree to be our exclusive retailer.

This is up for negotiation, so we would appreciate if you can pitch in your ideas. Also, if you have concerns or suggestions, we can discuss them in person next week.

Sincerely,

Patricia Mills
